WEST HAKAMA trousers are our modern interpretation of HAKAMA trousers with a simplified and loose cut. The characteristic wide legs are the effect of overlapping pleats. Our modern hakamas are fastened with a zipper at the front and have an elastic band at the back to adjust to the width of the waist. In Japanese tradition, the pleats, of which there are usually seven, symbolize virtues such as loyalty, honesty, justice or courage. Our hakamas have the charm of the East but the ease and comfort of the West. Hand wash in a delicate liquid or in a washing machine 30 degrees on a silk/wool program. Iron on the left side, max 100 degrees. Tencel dries quickly and loves to be dried without spinning in a vertical position.
