Habuntay
The East taught me simplicity. Scandinavia taught me calm. HABUNTAY was born from a desire to bring these two worlds together.
Habuntay means "forever".
I design contemporary kimonos and timeless garments. I don't follow seasons or fleeting trends. I believe in enduring forms, local craftsmanship and exceptional fabrics that often cannot be found twice.
My name is Anna Hatłas, founder and designer of HABUNTAY. Before I began designing clothing, I told stories through film and photography. Today, those experiences shape everything I create.
Each collection is made from carefully selected European deadstock fabrics sourced from Portugal, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands. From time to time, I also discover exceptional textiles in Japan. Their limited availability means that most designs are produced in very small batches or as one-of-a-kind pieces.
Every garment is made locally in Warsaw in collaboration with experienced seamstresses and a master pattern maker. Each piece passes through my hands before it reaches its new owner.
I believe true luxury is never about excess. It is about quality, respect for materials and creating pieces people will return to again and again.
For me, a garment's story doesn't begin and end with the purchase. It should age beautifully, become part of everyday life and, over time, become part of someone's own story.
Global inspiration, local action
When designing clothes, I choose the best fabrics from all over the world – Portugal, Japan, England, Italy and Holland. What matters to me is the quality of the weave, durability and the exceptional beauty of the materials.
Even though I draw inspiration from distant corners, the entire production takes place in Poland, in Warsaw, where I live. The clothes are made in a local art studio, in the hands of experienced seamstresses and cutters, which allows me to take care of every detail.
Before I ship your order, I carefully check each item to make sure it is
that I am putting something special in your hands.
With respect for the planet
I create clothes in limited numbers, guided by the cycle of nature, not seasonal trends. I believe that the best choice is classic, durable clothes that will stay with us for years. I care about the environment, designing with the future in mind - why create problems for the next generations?
Who am I?
My name is Anna Hatłas. I am the creator of the Habuntay brand, but I live in the world of film every day. I graduated from the Gdynia Film School and the prestigious Wajda School in documentary film and I create films and essays. One of them - devoted to Marguerite Duras - premiered at the New Horizons Festival in 2023 and won awards at many international festivals. I also run literary opening workshops with my husband.
Whether I'm designing kimonos or directing films, I want to inspire others to
living in harmony with nature and its balance. As a mother of two children, every day
I look for beauty in simplicity. I often look at the stars, I walk firmly on the ground,
Sometimes I dream that I'm floating in the air.
